Minimum wage / minimum salary
For employees who entered into an employment relationship with ÖBB prior to 31 December 2003, the provisions of the General Contract Terms (AVB) apply. The minimum wage/salary is based on the allocation to a wage/salary group, with a serial number system (
Ordnungsnummerprinzip
, approx. 500 serial numbers) being applied. For employees who entered into an employment relationship with ÖBB between 2004 and 2010, the provisions of the staff and pay regulation (
Dienst- und Besoldungsordnung, DBO
) apply, with the minimum wage/salary also being based on the allocation to a wage/salary group according to the serial number system (approx. 30 serial numbers). For employees who entered into an employment relationship with ÖBB as of 2011, the provisions of the Collective Agreement for Railway Companies apply. Minimum pay levels depend on the classification in one of ten employment categories.
Minimum wage/salary for employees who entered into an employment relationship with ÖBB as of 2011:
- Working time of 38.5 hours: EUR 2.635,27
Supplements and allowances
Child allowance, supplement for special duties, position-related lump sum
Working time
The regular working time is 38.5 hours per week
Supplement for extra hours
: usually 50%, during specified times 100% and/or 200%.

: statutory three-year period of limitation;
DBO/Collective Agreement for Railway Companies
: In an existing employment relationship, claims need to be asserted in writing within nine months; after termination of an employment relationship, claims need to be asserted within three months (except for severance pay: three-year limitation period).
