What is the minimum wage?
Undertakings that post or hire out workers to Austria are obligated to pay at least the minimum wage applicable in Austria.
The minimum wage level in the specific case is not defined by law in Austria but usually derives from the collective agreement applicable to the sector and type of work.

Workers are also entitled to reimbursement of expenses.
Paying wages below the minimum level entails heavy fines in Austria. Apart from any such fines, employees can bring court action to claim the difference.
It is therefore particularly important, prior to posting or placing workers, to be aware of the minimum wage levels stipulated in the applicable Austrian collective agreement.
